The Women's Farming Union has joined the campaign to ban Chinese lanterns ahead of what farmers are warning could be a nightmare week- end.
Despite pleas from farming organisations, thousands of lanterns are expected to be launched during bonfire night celebrations, putting livestock and farm buildings at risk. The lanterns - hot air balloons carried aloft by a tiny burning fuel cell - have already been blamed for a number of fires. Livestock have also been killed as a result of the wire frames falling into forage crops and ending up being eaten.See the full content of this document
