The Government was accused of talking utter nonsense after it compared the plight of the children of service personnel with those of seasonal fruit pickers and seaside workers.

A spokesman for the Department for Children, Families and Schools (DCFS) said it could not pay more money to schools with a high percentage of forces children because if it did, it would also have to help out at seaside schools.
