Helen Brotherton CBE, pioneer of nature conservation, saviour of Brownsea Island, and founder of Dorset Wildlife Trust, has died in hospital, at Poole, aged 95.
Many rare species, including the red squirrels and water rails of Brownsea, and the Dartford warblers and smooth snakes of Dorset's heaths, are more secure today because of Miss Brotherton's passionate defence of their environment.See the full content of this document
