Skipper Marcus Trescothick hailed his bowlers as Somerset guaranteed themselves a Friends Provident t20 quarter-final place.

The opener cracked a third straight fifty but felt their six- wicket victory over Essex at Chelmsford had mainly been ensured by his attack after they restricted the hosts to 173-6. Once again Alfonso Thomas led the way, this time with two for 24 to extend his lead at the top of the competition's wickets chart. He now has 26 dismissals at a n average of 12.65 each.
