I note that South Gloucestershire Council says that due to switching the lights off it is saving hundreds of thousands of pounds annually.

Now they have done this why don't they go one better and switch off many of the traffic lights as well and save more of our money? Whydo we now have banks of traffic lights especially- from as many as four to eight at a single junction where two would perfectly suffice.
