Summary


The banking and retail system, and the Houses of Parliament, are becoming a joke and costing the nation dearly. Radical reforms to marketing British produce to ensure continuity of supply and fair prices for producers and consumers was not a feature of the three main political parties at their conferences this season. Agriculture was almost totally ignored although it is an industry vital to all of us.

We all have to eat, as was graphically shown in one MP's expenses claim, which showed a sum of Pounds 5,000 for food, and Pounds 1,600 for a kitchen in which to cook it. He must have had a gold-plated AGA, at that rate.
