Bristol's hopes of winning the Denny Cup for the fifth time were dashed when star-studded City of Ely, complete with reigning world champion Greg Harlow, chalked up a convincing 94-65 semi-final victory.
Bristol were in the lead for the first 12 ends, but a couple of loose ends proved costly, as Ely's confidence picked up. Harlow defeated a rink skipped by Terry Barnes 25-14, while Bristol's Jason Sparkes held Andrew Easy to a 23-18 scoreline, and Ryan Collier's rink scored a superb 22-13 win over Jamie Reynolds.
