Summary


One of my fondest childhood memories, as a four-year-old in 1944 in the lead-up to D-Day, is of the thousands of American soldiers billeted under canvas in the fields and woods around our home.

Some of them would come to dinner, bringing all sorts of goodies that had been unobtainable for years here.
