Service Warns of the Dangers of Boat Fires

Summary


Three people are killed on average in boat fires every year, and Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service is warning boat owners to be alert to the dangers.

With the bank holiday weekend approaching and more people buying boats, the service is particularly keen to remind boat owners that remote moorings can be difficult for emergency services to reach, and smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are a must. Petrol must be stored safely and camping stoves used with care.
