Helen Weeks (Western Daily Press Letters, February 24) is rightly fearful that the coalition's public service reforms may spell the end for the National Health Service - but it may only happen in England.
Devolution in 1999 eradicated the universal UK NHS in creating NHS (England), NHS (Scotland), NHS (Wales) and NHS (Northern Ireland) so leaving NHS (England) alone in the hands of Westminster's selfindulgent UK parties. All of England's public services, including health, education, local government, industry, housing, law and order, economic planning, social services, tourism and transport, are still governed by a UK government but these public services are nationally governed in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.See the full content of this document
