Scott McGleish has revealed how Paul Buckle's ambition - and a belief that Bristol Rovers can escape League Two at the first attempt - were major factors in his decision to join the Pirates.

The experienced 37-yearold marksman had interest from elsewhere but chose to move to the West Country for the first time in a long career which has seen him notch 202 goals in 663 league appearances for eight different clubs. He has signed a one-year deal and is keen to continue the form which saw him find the net 18 times last season during his fourth spell with Leyton Orient.
