Rok Adds to Success with North Regeneration Company Coup

Summary

West property firm Rok, with seven successive years of record results, has bought a building and regeneration specialist in Lancashire and Yorkshire for pounds40.5 million.

Richardson Projects, with offices in Rochdale and Leeds, employs more than 350 people and last year made a pre-tax profit of pounds4.2m. It operates primarily in the social housing sector, and this year's order book is almost full thanks to long-term framework agreements with customers. The latest Northern Rok acquisition fits the firm's aim to build a national network of offices providing construction and maintenance services to local markets. Last year Rok added Avonside Services of Leigh to a string of offices which now number 59 across the country, with plans to double this figure in the next few years. As part of the deal, Richardson's private housing development division will be wound down.
