A ring lost by a grief-stricken aristocrat in the grounds of a Wiltshire castle has been remarkably returned to his descendants 180 years later, following a 40-year-long search for its rightful owner.
The mourning ring belonged to Sir Thomas Hare, a Norfolk landowner, and was dedicated to his beloved wife Ann Elizabeth, who died in 1823 after undergoing an operation.
