Residents Turn Out to Fight Proposals to Close Museum

Summary

Placard-waving protesters demonstrated outside North Somerset Museum against proposals to close it.

About 40 people holding banners and balloons saying Save Our Museum staged the protest after North Somerset Council announced it was reviewing the future of the service. The authority is considering the future of the museum, which opened in 1866, as part of cost-cutting measures to save Pounds 2.5 million. It may close the museum but has pledged to retain some form of museum in the resort.
