Jack Temple, who was a local outdoor sporting enthusiast and a former working member of the famous British Antarctic Survey, has died aged 66. He lived in Clevedon, North Somerset, but was born, raised and educated in the Medway town of Rainham and completed a five-year apprenticeship as a shipwright with the London and Rochester Trading Company.
The maritime firm was well-known for the sport of barge racing and Jack crewed on their vessels several times before leaving to go to sea as a ship's carpenter.See the full content of this document
