Would you queue for four hours to vote for a politician? The sight of those long lines patiently waiting to vote for Obama were a bit shaming, for we rarely get enthused to the point where we'd wait hours in the cold to put a cross on a bit of paper.

The only time I might have done it would have been an election which could have ousted Thatcher, and that situation never arose. And we don't have politicians as charismatic as Obama - imagine queuing in rain and snow to vote in John Major. The nearest we came to an Obama moment was when Tony Blair got in, and look what a busted flush that turned out to be.
