Apilot died when a gyrocopter crashed at an airfield in the Cotswolds, police said yesterday. A 64-year-old man was flying circuits in a gyrocopter at 4.30pm on Sunday above Little Rissington Airfield, which is near Bourton-on-the-Water.
Police and air ambulance were called to the former RAF station, the highest in the UK, which is now a general aviation airfield. The pilot, from Haslemere, Surrey, was pronounced dead at the scene and his family were travelling to the county yesterday to identify his body. Gloucestershire police and the Air Accidents Investigation Branch are now carrying out an investigation into the incident. A police spokesperson said the pilot had taken off from the airfield and came down during one of his circuits. An AAIB spokesperson could not throw any more light on the crash, but said: "This is an ongoing investigation."See the full content of this document
