A police credit card was used to pay a bill totalling almost Pounds 3,000 during a trip to Europe by Prince Charles's sons, it emerged last night.

A member of Scotland Yard's royal protection team picked up the Pounds 2,744 hotel bill, which covered the cost of a stay for Prince William, Prince Harry and several staff.
