PEOPLE IN THE NEWS McCARTNEY ALBUM Sir Paul McCartney is to turn back the clock by releasing an album of US standards - including songs he remembered his father playing at home. The former Beatle, 69, has teamed up with Diana Krall and has rekindled musical partnerships with Eric Clapton and Stevie Wonder for some tracks. All but two songs on the as-yet unnamed album - to be released in February - are cover versions.
OFFENSIVE JOKE The family of a teenager who was killed on a Scottish island have accepted an apology from television presenter Matthew Wright after he joked about the boy's death. Liam Aitchison, 16, was found dead in a derelict building in the Steinish area of Stornoway, on the Isle of Lewis, on Tuesday November 29, a week after he went missing. Two men were charged with murder following the death. Wright, host of Channel 5's The Wright Stuff, apologised for comments he made during a newspaper review segment of the show.
