Parish to Look Again at Loan

Summary

A controversial decision by a parish council in Wiltshire not to take out a Pounds 100,000 loan for a new village hall will be raised again at the next council meeting this month.

Great Somerford's parish council voted not to go for the loan, which would have been its contribution to a Pounds 400,000-plus project in neighbouring Seagry. The decision followed consultations with parishioners of Great Somerford and nearby Startley which appeared to show a majority backing for the idea. Great Somerford residents have written to the parish council asking why the decision was taken.
