W ill Palmer says he's not afraid of what lies ahead, but he must admit he's a bit nervous. He and his friend Paddy Delany, both footloose and fancy-free young men around Bristol, will set out in a couple of weeks' time to help villagers on a remote outpost of the Solomon Islands rebuild their lives after the devastating tsunami of April 2007.

It will not be easy. The island has no electricity or piped water and no direct contact with the outside world. Will's Desert Island Discs luxury will be a wind-up radio, though he knows that will be no good if the two of them need urgent help.
