Controversial proposals to redevelop parts of Wells need much more work to make them suit its size and unique character, say council officials.
They say the proposed bigger Tesco is hard to justify, the decked/ undercroft parking would be out of keeping with the character of the historic city and other roads may not cope if Princes Road was closed as suggested. Until now Mendip District Council has simply offered advice to Centros Miller, the developer with whom it signed an agreement to consult and draw up ideas for the Princes Road area.See the full content of this document
