One of Bristol's biggest firms, building services specialist Mitie, is on course for profits approaching Pounds 100 million. Mitie, which employs 57,000 around the country including thousands in Bristol and the South West, said yesterday that it is on course to meet targets for its financial year which ends today.

That means the firm is almost certain to outstrip last year's pre- tax profits of Pounds 78.4m and go on to prove right chief executive Ruby McGregor-Smith's prediction "we've grown this year and expect to grow next year."
