Your anonymous correspondent (Road accidents a tragic epidemic, May 10) seems to have fallen into the simplistic argument of an old Government slogan "speed kills".
Speed is a factor in some, but not all road deaths. Statistically if, as your correspondent stated, eight people are killed on Britain's roads each day, which I agree is an absolute tragedy, just one of those deaths would have involved speeding.
