Summary


If I had a pound for every article about healthy eating, I'd be a rich woman. Yet, in spite of all those carefully crafted words that have tumbled onto the pages and poured off them into people's hungry minds, we're often at a loss how best to feed our children. We're even more stumped by how to cajole, bribe or threaten them into devouring it.

Then, by the time we reach adulthood, we seem painfully preoccupied with limiting our consumption of all things yummy. And all in a world where millions of people are starving to death. Possibly, the rich world's relationship with food has always been a bit sick. Looking back through the centuries, I see crowned monarchs balancing enormous wobbly stomachs on skinny legs; gout-ridden knights in front of a roaring fire in their draughty castles, sporting a toe swollen from too much good port.
