Morale 'Low' for Families in the Forces

Morale among armed forces families is low because of cuts and uncertainties over pensions and allowances, a campaigner warned last night. Julie McCarthy, chief executive of the Wiltshire-based Army Families Federation, said large numbers of people were considering quitting the services.

She spoke out as the Royal British Legion accused the Prime Minister of back-tracking on a pledge to rebuild the Army Covenant, which sets out its obligations to troops.
