Summary


I'd love to meet the people who keep issuing lists of the things we shouldn't do. Coincidentally, just before New Year's Eve, these boring killjoys release yet more guidelines about the amount of alcohol we should consume - or not as the case may be.

Why can't I drink a bottle of wine or Champagne if it makes me feel good, relaxes me, or numbs the thought of having to kiss less than attractive strangers on the strike of midnight? After reading the guidelines in full, it transpires they're aimed at the younger generation, the ones who wouldn't read such articles anyway; therefore not making the slightest difference. These consumption guidelines never mention the people, who end up fighting, vandalising private property or having sex, as a reason for not drinking to excess. They use reasons like cirrhosis of the liver; most teenagers' think cirrhosis is some type of kebab. They should target the idiots clogging up our A&E departments on a Friday night, or pop down to single-mum city.
