British justice is fast becoming a self-cancelling phrase (an oxymoron) - and nothing illustrates this better than two recent news stories. Fiona Pilkington, of Leicester, came to the end of her tether after suffering years of abuse at the hands of local thugs, and - in an act of despair - killed herself and her severely disabled 18-year-old daughter.
Over a period of seven years, she had made over 30 calls to the local police to complain that she and her daughter were being verbally abused by stone-throwing yobs, and were prisoners in their own home.
