American food giant Kraft was last night accused of deliberately misleading people about its intentions to save the Cadbury factory in Keynsham, near Bristol.

It made the shock announcement to staff yesterday, a week after pledging to save the plant during its Pounds 11.5 billion takeover of the iconic chocolate-maker. Up to 400 jobs will be lost at the Somerdale plant and in a bleak day for jobs in the West, another 100 positions at BMW's Mini plant in Swindon are also set to be axed.
