Last year I enjoyed the huge privilege of visiting Kerala in southern India for the first time and I fell in love with its stunning landscapes, warm and hospitable people, colourful customs and sensational food.

It was, therefore, a wonderful treat to revisit that very special corner of the world last night in the company of the bubbly, smiley Kate Humble - The Spice Trail, BBC Two - as she sought out the stories of two of the most valuable and coveted spices on Earth.
