Summary
Every autumn Firethorns light up our gardens. However, this year I think they have excelled themselves and, whilst the usual debate about whether this predicts a cold winter to come or merely, as I suspect, reflects good conditions for pollination when they were in flower in spring, I'm sure that we are going to be enjoying the show for many weeks to come.
I suspect that the wider planting of better varieties is now having an impact with older varieties such as Orange Glow, Orange Charmer, Mohav and others now being replaced by superior varieties.See the full content of this document
