Summary
This week we valued an Art Deco wristwatch, by the Waltham Watch Company, Massachusetts, US. This is a 14k gold filled 'cushion' shaped Waltham case with a continuous embossed rope pattern around the periphery.
This type of design in wristwatches dates circa 1928. The original painted enamel dial has luminescent stylized upright Arabic numerals and baton hands, as well as a seconds bit at the 6 position. The minute chapter ring hugs the case edge, and the name Waltham is printed at the top of the dial. The lugs are traditional and slightly curved. The winding stem appears to be original and genuine. The movements in these watches usually have from 7-15 jewels. All parts appear to be genuine. Very occasionally these cases can be 14k solid gold (marked inside of case). If yours is such a case you can multiply the valuation by 5-6 times.See the full content of this document
