The first mistake Education Secretary Michael Gove made with academies is railroading the legislation through Parliament. The manner of his manoeuvring had an air of suspicion about it, and the concept of turning schools into privately-run academies already had enough of a suspicious sniff about it. For one, if there is one place in the world that yearns for debate and process its The House of Commons, and those resident to it take a dim view of not having their say.
