On reading Your Say, August 22, I would like to back up RS Blackmore's advice to leave the car in gear at all times.
Many years ago I took my car to the main dealers for attention to the brakes. The work was not done correctly and after a few miles they overheated. The next day, depressing the clutch ,the car then moved off with handbrake fully applied. Also, when applying the handbrake less wear is on racket when the release button is used at the same time.See the full content of this document
