Summary
There are times when there seems to be an awful lot of dying going on. I don't mean wars or famines or any of the big stuff - I'm talking about death, or approaching death, among people we know.
When such periods come along - as they do increasingly the longer we live - I reckon there must be some in-built tranquilliser that prevents most people from being reduced to absolute panic.
