In August this year my wife and I had a Rhine cruise holiday during which we visited Strasbourg, taking a canal trip through the heart of the EU Commission territory.
During her commentary the guide, who was in her late-20s, stated that the peace in Europe for the last 60 years had been due entirely to the EU. This is the same dangerous and inaccurate creed preached by Herman van Rompuy. Since about two-thirds of the passengers on the boat were Americans, I took the opportunity of correcting her saying, "It is a matter of historical fact that NATO has kept the peace in Europe and not the EU".See the full content of this document
