Every horse should have a job to do, says Helen Yeadon, founder of the Greatwood centre near Marlborough, which re-trains retired racehorses.

And for Jim and Tim, that job involves helping special needs children to live a calmer, more satisfying life. Jim is a former National Hunt racer, but injury put an end to his competitive career. Tim, on the other hand, was a flat racer from Hong Kong, where he never saw a blade of grass because horses are generally kept indoors there.
