Defence Secretary Reveals Planned Shake-Up

Special forces like the Hereford-based SAS are to be boosted as part of a new military strategy to take on al Qaida and other terror networks that threaten Britain's security, Defence Secretary John Hutton will say today.

Mr Hutton will announce plans for a "major rebalancing" of the armed forces over the next 10 years which will give greater priority and investment to special forces units which are able to strike at terror groups "behind enemy lines".
