A chain of luxury West hotels, including a castle and a dozen mansions, have experienced their best April for years - despite going into administration last month.

Bosses at the Bath-based von Essen hotel chain, which runs the likes of Thornbury Castle and Ston Easton Park, said the double four- day bank holiday weekends had produced a 'surge' in late bookings as couples opt for a taste of royal wedding-style class.
