But with a clever A-Z theme and some skilled editing, Glastonbury at 40, from Avalon to Jay-Z, worked brilliantly, building up a comprehensive picture of how this extraordinary cultural gathering ticks. From the late Arabella Churchill's long involvement in developing the festival, right through to the US rap artist presenting a rather dreadful cover of Oasis's Wonderwall in response to Noel Gallagher's jibes about his headline slot, there wasn't a dull moment.
