Is it an indication of collywobbles on the part of the Conservative Party that they have decided to focus their General Election campaign strategy on a highly personal onslaught on the Prime Minister? The Tories have just announced a nationwide poster campaign highlighting the "failings" of the Labour Government on such issues as pensions and crime, adding the sarcastic comment: "Vote for me" alongside a photograph of Gordon Brown.

This latest wheeze has been thought up by the advertising company Saatchi, which in 1979 devised the famous "Labour isn't working" poster which, it has been claimed since, played a major role in putting Margaret Thatcher in power in that year.
