Summary


With reference to a possible change of route for the Wells Carnival away from Sadler Street and the High Street in 2012. Maybe it is a chance to hear the overall public opinion about the carnival, and not just about its route, but its timings and amount of entries. Trying to be big is not always for the best Given that we are in recessionary times, and the carnival is around the same time as BBC's Children In Need and in the run-up to Christmas, money is always going to be tight at this time of year, not to mention the inclement weather.

Should Wells and the rest of the North Somerset circuit of carnivals be strictly for their members only, as other carnival circuits are in the South and West and as they were once years ago in Wells and North Somerset? Many of today's commuter-orientated public, consumed by their computer, television and mobile phone screens get very easily bored, not to mention the younger public watching and the young walking entries getting very tired by 11pm once the carnival is finally over.
