The BBC pumped thousands of pounds into the local economy during this year's Glastonbury Festival, by block-booking the Wessex Hotel in Street for its staff for the duration of the festival.

Yet despite the welcome boost to the village's economy, the corporation has come under fire from critics after it was revealed it sent 407 staff to the festival, producing 111 hours of television coverage.
