Smiths' Christmas auction on December 9 has over 1,000 lots of all shapes and sizes from an early 19th century gruesome leather slave collar to a selection of stunning silver and jewellery - perfect for Christmas presents. In the extensive silver section there are many potential gifts such as a silver hip flask, a selection of silver cruets, some beautiful silver and enamel cigarette cases and a number of small collectables such as vesta cases and scent bottles.

The more prestigious items include a George III silver tea caddy estimated to make Pounds 1,200/,800, a pair of silver Harlequin tapersticks - Pounds 500/ 700 and a pair of classic Georgian boat- form salts at Pounds 200/300.
