David Parker, writing in the Farming Green section of your paper, tells us that Alistair Darling wants to reform the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) but the EU's Agricultural Minister, Mariann Fischer Boel, believes it is not possible politically.

This would have nothing to do with the fact that she runs a farm which receives more than 60,000 euros in subsidy each year, of course. Perish the thought, even though it's a matter of public record. After all, wouldn't that be sort of dishonest?
