One of David Cameron's most influential advisers was arrested and fined for disorder in a dispute over a train ticket, it has emerged. Director of strategy, Steve Hilton, pictured, became embroiled in a row with rail staff as he left Bir mingham after the party's annual conference in October 2008, leading to police being involved.

Delay Over Fate of Carer Thief

A manager of a care home might have to wait months before discovering her fate after pleading guilty to stealing more than Pounds 100,000 from residents. Angela Brewer, 49, of Danesboro Road, Bridgwater, stole Pounds 115,000 from people in her care at The Limes home in the town, Taunton Crown Court was told yesterday.
